The United States is on
it's way to the biggest stage in all of world sports - the FIFA World Cup! This
coming year, the United States has had a fantastic year qualifying for the
World Cup with a 16 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses - the best in their history. The true story however, has been the return of
Landon Donovan. Landon is the national team's all time leading scorer and hero
of the team.
This past
year Donovan decided to take a sabbatical from playing soccer and travel around
the world. Landon returned to soccer and was welcomed by criticism. Unfazed,
Landon returned stronger than ever. Scoring goal after goal, and racking up
countless assists. So many, that Landon is now the all time leading goal scorer
in MLS history. Needless to say, it is a privilege that the United States is
lucky to have a player like Donovan with 57 games for the national team in 154
matches. The rest of the world needs to look out for the World Cup next year. It is indeed safe to say that the prodigal son has returned, and Donovan will be on the prowl for more goals!
